Thank you for your reporting Julie and for your sensitive recounting of the family's struggles to deal with the situation. Crimes like this are so common that they are taken as usual and ignored. We need to acknowledge them as hate crimes against women as we do regarding crimes against other groups.

Women aren’t important enough for officials to take actions which would keep us safe. It was bad enough that this repeated offender was let out of jail after his previous offences. That he then admitted to his urges but no steps were taken to prevent him acting on them by professionals who know too well what harm can result demonstrates that women’s lives simply don’t matter.

I'm so beyond anger and grief that yet more women are suffering and dying at the hands of violent men. Hearing these stories, whilst difficult and heartbreaking, stops women from becoming just another statistic. The world seems to have become innured to violence against women and girls by violent men, which is why it's so important for these stories to be heard. Thank you, Julie for your sensitive retelling. I know that talking to you will have helped Lisa's family feel her story wouldn't become yesterday's news. The main blame lies with the killer, but my word, the police and probation services should have been in the dock beside him. How are we supposed to feel safe with this level of...what? Incompetence? Women being told, yet again, that their lives aren't of sufficient importance to the services charged with protecting them.
