Horrified when I read about this previously but frankly, coming from a footballer’s family nothing surprises me about the power stakes in this - like everything else these days, footy is just another commodity and is influenced by whatever group hold sway ie those that can affect revenue. It’s a pity clubs don’t realise it’s the fans that are most important and not their corporate partners.
