The misogyny of trans ideology
We are being advised to use the term 'bonus hole' for vagina, and we are not even at peak trans lunacy yet
Confusing, dehumanising and counter productive. That’s what I would call the latest assault on language suggested by a women’s cancer charity in recent days. Having gone through decades of stigma and shame about naming our genitals accurately as opposed to using stupid euphemisms, we are now advised that because some transwomen or transmen might find the term ‘vagina‘ offensive, upsetting, or exclusionary, we use ‘bonus hole’ or ‘front hole’.
It quite extraordinary that females are being persuaded to change our language to appease a tiny group of men, simply because they wish for us to partake in the fantasy that they are really women. And let’s have a think about what this all means at a very basic level: the removal of the penis and scrotum to form an incision, effectively an open wound, does not create a vagina. It creates an illusion for the transwoman, and they have no business calling that open wound a vagina.
In the meantime women have to deal with the reality of our biology. Menstruation is pretty difficult to go through, not just because of the stigma attached to it, and a lack of information from parents and sex education in school about why we bleed once a month, but also the physical discomfort, the symptoms of premenstrual tension which can leave us moody, irritable, and exhausted.
Then there is the risk of cervical cancer, a risk not faced by transwomen. On a regular basis, particularly through our fertile years, we are advised to have a cervical smear test. This involves putting our legs in stirrups and having a cold metal object inserted in our vagina. Needless to say, for some of us, it is excruciatingly painful. What is also important to note, is it transmen, whatever spin they like to put on it, also at risk of cervical cancer, whether or not they have undergone phalloplasty. So all in all, the vagina is an extremely important and iconic part of our female bodies. At school we used to be told to refer to it as “down there“ because the word vagina was considered to be disgusting and rude. Feminists, of course of reclaimed our language, proudly stating that there is absolutely nothing to feel ashamed about, and that our biology is part of who we are. So to be told to use demeaning words such as ‘ bonus hole’ suggests that we are seen as nothing but an orifice and that somebody else will benefit from it. A bit like the message peddled by pornographers.
If this is the latest health and sex education for women and girls, then it looks like we’ve gone back to the dark ages.
It’s not just our genitals that are being misnamed – look at the calls to refer to breastfeeding as ‘chest feeding’ and spell woman as ‘womxn’. Then there is the crazy notion that transwomen ‘have periods’. Indeed, there were plans afoot for a question in the 2022 Census to be ‘Do you menstruate’ as opposed to ‘are you female?’ so as not to upset the trans cabal.
At the root of the bastardisation of language to describe females and our biology is misogyny. It is the same old sexism but dressed up as ‘progressiveness’ and ‘kindness’. This quest to be ‘inclusive’ of trans-identified men is to exclude women – half of the population.
Why should we disguise the fact that females are proud owners of vaginas, just because a small number of men tell us that they feel excluded? They are! Men don’t have vaginas. And the sooner we stop bending over backwards to placate this woman hating ideology the better.
As a biological psychologist, and a fellow human being, I completely agree that "the bastardisation of language" to describe female bodies is misogyny. And, I find the term to which you refer here as particularly vulgar. Thank you for your principled, thoughtful essay. Sincerely, Frederick
I tend to agree with these views. Under no circumstances do I wish for any of the trans individuals to be persecuted, discriminated against, shamed etc but if this small group of biological males are hellbent on erasing what tiny authenticity we females have, I’ll fight them tooth and nails!
That’s my AM dose!
