"German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said he would like to see further legal restrictions on sex work in Germany, adding that the sale of sex is "not acceptable" and shouldn't be "normalised.""
Scholz's phrasing "the sale of sex" being not acceptable is a bad one. Not only because this could imply that the prostitutes are to be blamed, but also because this is the opposite of the principle of the Nordic Model. The Nordic Model criminalizes the buyers of sex instead of the prostitutes. If Scholz meant that the human traffickers and pimps are not acceptable, then he should make it clearer. Still, the Nordic Model should apply.
