Wonderful conversation between two women who know exactly what’s going on and what the issues are. The Labour Party seem determined to lose longstanding supporters and votes.

Absolutely terrific conversation, many thanks to you both!

The talk of the Yorkshire ripper, reminded me of something - I was raised a Jehovah’s Witness, and of the many reasons I left, two of them were the incredible misogyny in the religion, and the flagrant homophobia. My mum and two sisters are sadly still in the cult. One of the strangest things I learnt recently was that Peter Sutcliffe converted and became a Jehovah’s Witness whilst in prison. When he died a couple of years back, he was still in the faith. This means, according to their doctrine, that someone like me who turned their back on the religion, will face annihilation by God at a future Armageddon, but “brother” Sutcliffe will be resurrected to live forever in paradise, cuddling Pandas, lying on chaise lounges eating grapes, and all the other imagery you see on Jehovah’s Witness leaflets. Utterly bizarre.

A terrific discussion! For the issue of rape, what I've always hated with the she said/he said problem is that there is always this ridiculous fear that the accusation is false. The data points out that, more often than not, a crime of rape has occurred and false accusations are quite low in comparison. I think rape is a uniquely horrendous crime because it is both a criminal act in peace time AND a war crime, as it is used as a weapon to terrorize populations that live conflict zones. And, among many other reasons, sentencing should be much harsher.
