My heart goes out to the family of Sabina: I am so sorry that it was your sister/daughter/cousin/friend, and the horror of it is so crushing, I cannot - almost dare not - imagine what it must be like to love someone who has this fate.

If it is any consolation, I do believe that at least some of the disparity between the media interest in Sarah Everarad and Sabina would be in the fact that it was a serving policeman who committed the crime, and that he pretended to arrest her in order to abduct her. The reveal of day to day misogyny in the police force was a huge factor in the awfulness of that crime, and the idea that being arrested by a serving police officer might lead to your rape, murder and death is almost too awful to contemplate.

May Sabina rest in peace and her family find consolation in the nature she loved.
