Queering the Fire Brigade
Putting out fires? Saving lives? Forget it, the priority is PROTECTING THE RIGHTS OF POLYAMOROUS FIREFIGHTERS!!!!!
Plonkers on Pride Parade
Now, the Scottish Region Fire Brigade Union LGBTQ+ caucus have all of TWO motions to put forward to be discussed at the annual Trades Union Congress (TUC) Conference, in the UK, this year to be held in Trans Tinsel Town (Brighton). What did they choose? Yes, at a time when firefighters face a significantly higher risk of developing certain cancers compared to the general population, and little things such as the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, they chose this life and death issue…
You couldn’t make it up!
Hang on - you want to know what these utter bellends chose for the second motion?
THE FREEDOM TO WEAR RAINBOW LANYARDS AT WORK, OF COURSE!
Because looking like a total plonker on the public coin is a human right.
And today (4th April 2025) the Scottish Daily Mail picked up on my Substack and reported on this madness:
Please tell me this is an April Fool’s joke!
The Scottish Parliament probably banned rainbow lanyards to reduce provocation and expulsion of women wearing scarves in unacceptable suffragette colours, to calm down the local TERF wars. (There is a lovely "Suffragette Tartan" first seen as a scarf worn by Joanna Cherry MP: I tracked it down with these speculative Google search terms, and found it as a commercially named Suffragette Tartan shawl too -- in the softest lambswool).
And the Scots fire brigade union really believes that no-one chooses to be "trans"? "Born that way" is such a convenient but idiotic evasion of a glaringly cultural phenomenon: starting with regressive 1950s sex role stereotypes that trans indoctrination absolutely could not do without.
