It’s really very brave of your interviewee to share the details of her past and her feelings. I am very impressed with the grit of this young woman! Thank you both.
I’m so impressed with the courage and intelligence of Aurora and thank you for interviewing her and bringing her story to our attention. It’s hard to fathom that this trauma was forced upon a young woman who simply needed to be allowed to be herself as a young lesbian. I’m really glad you got out when you did, Aurora, and that you are now living the life you want just the way you are. And I hope that each story that is told in this thoughtful way will contribute to ending the sheer madness of this physical and mental mutilation of young women and girls. I couldn’t be more grateful that I came out in the late 70s and early 80s (we know it’s never one step but several). The insult of being told then ‘you want to be a man’ as a young lesbian has morphed into a grotesque and enforced charade of thinking that one can - and wants to - actually become a man. Nothing could be further from the truth.
