I really enjoyed that discussion, Julie. I was trying to think of my stand out quote but there were so many. But the one that stays in my head is, ‘If prostitution becomes sex work, then rape become merely theft’. I may not have remembered exactly but that’s close enough. Much of it I’d heard and read before but hi hadn’t thought of that comparison. So thank you.

In the religion I was raised in, Jehovah's Witnesses, I could never quite work out why women outnumber men so much in the congregations, often 2:1, sometimes even more, considering what a grossly misogynistic religion it is, so thank you Julie for you shedding some light on this, I'd never heard this theory before. Fear is certainly a motivation, and I was raised to consider "worldly people" as inherently wicked, so the fear of the outside is very real, and exacerbated by being in a vulnerable class. This would also explain the high instance of immigrants among JWs.
