Whilst women get convicted for defending themselves against rape

This is why we founded Justice for Women 30 years ago. Have a look at these brief extracts from two contrasting cases: Martyna Ogonowska, an 18-year-old woman who was convicted of the murder Filip Jaskiewicz, and the latest man to get away with murder. Ross McCullam who killed Megan Newborough. McCullam was cleared of murder and convicted of the lesser offence of manslaughter.

Ogonowska had been raped aged 14, and was massively triggered when being sexually assaulted by the deceased, and attempted to defend herself against her assailant.

McCullam’s defence to the murder was the claim that he was suffering undiagnosed PTSD over unreported childhood sexual abuse prompted him to kill his victim whilst she was "preparing to give him oral sex".

Plausible? No, I don’t think so.

Whilst Ogonowska handed herself in to police immediately following the offence, McCullam concealed the body, lied to police, and made various efforts to evade justice: which is exactly what he managed to do when he was cleared of murder.
