Julie, you are so tenacious, so determined. There is so much wrong with the way we treat children. Vital work. What journalism should be.

The society has become frozen in dealing with threats to women's safety. Children being less oppressed than certain ethnic or identity groups, harm to the children is seen as less important than protecting oppressed groups. You have written bravely and objectively but faced a system that favors protecting subjective determinations of who is more oppressed in making policing and policy determinations.

When I was reading this excellent summary of your work, I thought of another area where you have been in the vanguard of pointing out the disastrous scandal of tomorrow: the transing of children and the erasure of women.

Isn't it funny how both of these societal ruptures (grooming gangs and TRAs) are both movements characterized by badly behaved men? "There is no pride in using a flawed ideology to groom children into premature sexual awareness, encouraging confused people to have surgeries and drugs that will leave them sexually non-functioning, mutilated and trampling over the bodies of women and children to assert a man’s right to put his penis anywhere he wants to because it’s a “lady dick”." https://lucyleader.substack.com/p/im-not-transphobic-you-are-normaphobic

Thanks for working so tirelessly for women and girls, in spite of the constant pushback, being ignored and then the cries of “Where were all the feminists?”

There are similarities in the silencing of feminists over grooming gangs and gender ideology. Feminists must shut up about the abuse of women and girls because of the transphobia/islamophobia excuse.

I see also in your writing that though you had been sounding the alarm for years, a man came in and said he "broke" the story.

Thanks Julie, I've always appreciated your work.

I haven't read all the pieces yet, but there is a question I'd like to ask.

Do you think police's shortcomings are due "simply" to fear of being branded racist?

Even after witnessing mad wokery at play in different contexts, and even if I was always skeptical of policing in general, it would still seem strange to me. More so, if, as I read somewhere, in some circumstances some on the force were actively colluding with gangs. I'd suspect money is involved, and gangs operate not "just" on pimping but as a broader organization, mafia-like. This would also explain why many in the local communities wouldn't speak out, and would actually be defensive against journalists and volunteers inquiries, because of fear of vendettas.

Am I onto something? If so, could you point out some reading along this direction?

Thanks

It’s called ‘perverting the course of justice’, a criminal offence.

This is why there will be no independent national enquiry.

Jess Philips said ‘it’s a matter for local authorities’. No it is not, it is a matter national crime authorities.

Labour politicians - at all levels from PM downwards - police commanders, social services officials, probation officers have all been complicit.

How on earth did they think that such horrific crimes on such a huge scale could remain hidden?

"How on earth did they think that such horrific crimes on such a huge scale could remain hidden?" - Because they always have! And still are, for the most part. The vast majority of child-rape happens within families, and remains hidden.

Your general point cannot be dismissed - but no, not the ‘vast majority’.

What has happened in these Midlands and Northern towns has been on an enormous scale.

Jennifer, I am so sorry you and your son had to experience such a vile event and I hope you can bring the female perpetrator to justice. I do hope you can retain a trust in other women (think of Julie and many others who care like her) in the future, despite this abusive woman.💚🤍💜
